To unite as a community of believers, in educating our children by offering a rigorous curriculum in a traditional, Christ centered learning environment.
Choosing Christian Education
“A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove…But, the world may be a different place because I was important in the life of a child.”
Many agree with the above statement, though sometimes too late in life for their children. We know we must not under-estimate the influence that our world has on children and young people. As such, making sure we have thought through the choices regarding our child’s education is essential. In Luke 6:40 we read “Every one when he is fully taught will be like his teacher.” Nationally, studies have shown that 70% of Christian children who attend public schools stop going to church between the ages of 12 and 17*. It is an alarming statistic that should make us all wonder if they are not becoming “more like the secular society” they are exposed to rather than being exposed to an environment that is “more like Christ”. It is time for all Christian parents to evaluate the end results of their child’s education. Scripturally we have many admonitions on how to raise Godly, responsible children. Our children are “in training” for a life devoted to Christ. Just as we wouldn’t teach a young child to swim by throwing him head-long into a raging river, our consideration of appropriate training is as important before we throw them into the world of adulthood.
As parents we make decisions everyday that affect our children. A few of these decisions, however, are the type that when made will have a tremendous and life long impact on them. Education is one such decision. Thus it is important for each parent to consider how their child’s young heart will be shaped by the dominate influences in their life. We all know the environment they spend their days in tremendously impacts who they become. What about your children? Have you considered a Christian school? Committed to children and their families, the staff at Riverview Christian School believes that each child is a gift from God. We are committed to providing academic excellence, spiritual growth opportunities, and an environment of high moral standards for children. We believe that while working together with families, a Christ centered education will provide the valuable foundation for children to reach their full potential.
Education for the Mind, Body, and Spirit.
Material is chosen for our curriculum that meets the goals of providing a high quality education with a Christian perspective. A variety of publishers are used to provide the best materials for each course. Couple that with small class sizes and our staff is able to facilitate individual attention and a specific learning plan development for each student. The Bible is the basis of all our education and God’s Word is integrated into every subject taught. In addition, chapel is held once a week. Students are also encouraged to participate in other ministry opportunities throughout the year.
